It's great for art projects or review worksheets, but it is always clogging! I get quite frustrated during every project using glue because I am spending most of my time with a thumb tack in my hand digging out hard glue clogged in each bottle! I have a great tip for you! Just use oil in the lids. Here is a tutorial. -Thank you to my student teaching cooperating teacher who gave me this tip a couple years ago!
Disclaimer: This does not work miracles. You'll just notice that your glue will clog much less and will be easier to un-clog if it does! :)

1. Take off caps {I use pliers} and put them in a bowl.
2. Add 2 tablespoons of oil (any kind) to your bowl of lids. Get the oil inside the lids too!
3. Rinse the lids. Don't worry about getting all of the oil off. It works in your favor!
4. Put the lids on and enjoy clog free glue!

I just finished doing this! It was kind of hard work. I had to use a flat head screw driver to pop the lids off then use a towel to push them back on. My fingers are really sore from all the twisting, too! But, I'm hoping all my hard work pays off and I get fabulously un-clogged glue this year! Thanks for posting!
A little less messy... pop off the top and put some vaseline in there with a Q-tip. :)
This is a great idea! Here's another - get Tip-Tap (also called Tap & Glue) glue bottle tops (no, I don't work for them - no connection at all!) These tops only work if the kids press down and squeeze at the same time - no drip, no mess, and they rarely clog.
You can also use cooking spray like Pam. I use it and it's less messy and works just the same!
I had a teacher tell me to use Vaseline on the inside of the glue caps. Glue will not stick to Vaseline and apparently the Vaseline will not come out of the caps when you are using the glue.
I LOVE YOU! I almost cried because I was so happy to see this post while clicking around tonight.
Great idea! I've also heard you can try Vaseline. My toughest part is getting the orange lids off!
I'm your newest follower! I unclog my glue by sticking the end of a paper clip in it. It works, too!
Wonderful tip. Thank you for sharing. I posted this tip to my facebook page with the link back.
Wow, great tip!! Thank you for posting!

Elmers had these upside down glue bottles and they stopped making them they were the best things ever never clogged and easy to refill cause the hole was big:-( I have six of the bottles left I wish i could get more. The best way tostop unclog them is take orange lids off soak in water and also soak the white part of the lids too but seperate. Then wa-la working again. I will have to try the oil thing too though!
I tried this and it worked! I wrote about it and linked back to your post. I hope I did it correctly and it is okay. You can check it out here .
Thanks so much for sharing!

Do you do this WHEN they become clogged or before you even use them?
